Registry Performance Recommendations
Recommended steps in recovering your registry:
- Avoid frequent installations of freeware or shareware products. These products can contain adware or spyware that can cause damage to your registry and performance issues on your PC.
- Document any changes that you make to your PC (software installs, new hardware, modified settings, etc.). If you have this information, it can make life much easier when trying to troubleshoot a performance problem when it arises.
- Keep Windows Update turned on. This will keep your system updated on important security and performance issues on your PC as they are found.
- Use a recommended scanning tool for keeping your registry neat and clean. Do not attempt to make manually adjustments to the registry as this can cause severe problems with your Windows installation or hardware configuration.
- Before scanning and fixing your registry, make a registry backup. This will allow you to restore your registry if required at a later date.
